Date of Death: 12/24/2022 | Date of Birth: 12/6/1929; | ClergyWe have received word of the Saturday, December 24, 2022 death of the Rev. William Thornton Hawkins of Givens Estates, Asheville. Thornton was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Diggs Hawkins, and his granddaughter, Lauren Patrice Sigmon. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Patrice Hawkins Sigmon (Allen) and Catherine Hawkins Hoffman (Roger); his brother and sister-in-law: Darrell Hawkins (Sara); and by many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in the Norma Pulliam Chapel at Givens Estates in Asheville. The family will greet friends in the chapel after the service. Those attending are requested to wear masks.
