Mission Spotlight
Rebuilding Teams Needed in Haywood County
We have transitioned into the rebuilding phase of recovery following the flooding from Tropical Storm Fred. Volunteer teams are needed to assist in the rebuilding process. If you are a team leader, use the following form to register your team for dates. If you have questions, contact our Disaster Response Coordinator, Brian Mateer.
The Mission Engagement Team is actively collaborating through:
- Forming and administering the conference relationships with the General Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Committee on Relief, and United Methodist Volunteers in Mission.
- Promoting and expanding the work of our own WNC Conference initiatives such as Congregations for Children (C4C) and the Committee on Relief.
-
Advancing the work of our conference partnerships: Project Agape, Zoe Empowers, the Central Congo Partnership, Open Arms Community, and several mission agencies located in Haiti.
-
Assisting numerous mission teams from the conference as they journey locally, regionally, and internationally.
Cultivation within Mission Engagement looks like:
-
Developing programs and resources for local church empowerment through a lens of asset-based community development.
-
Producing a comprehensive mission training program that includes mission team leader, early response team, chaplaincy, advanced team trainings, and district disaster response orientation.
-
Designing and organizing conference-wide events that are aimed at mission learning, community development, and leading crucial conversations around mission, service, outreach, and ministry.
-
Supporting the work of our Conference Missional Collective and various learning cohorts.
-
Assisting the local church and United Methodist agencies with programmatic grants.
-
Studying, exploring, and examining potential future mission partnerships and Advanced Specials.
